OT alum has big plans for building program that supports young adults

TWU occupational therapy alumna Danielle Howerton has thought about starting a transitional program for young adults with intellectual disabilities or neurodivergent conditions for many years. The Texas Woman's Empowering Women for Rural Healthcare Leadership mentorship program is helping making that a reality for Howerton. 

Red wine pomace may have heart health benefits

Mandana Pahlavani, PhD, an assistant professor from Texas Woman’s Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, received a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to study the “novel microencapsulation of red wine pomace to modulate gut health in coronary artery disease.”

Alumna Cynthia Chennault is returning to Texas Woman’s and the Denton campus to participate in the Empowering Women for Rural Healthcare Leadership lecture series. Chennault serves in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps as an active-duty health services commander.

Grad finds career calling in cardiac healthcare role

Texas Woman’s 2024 graduate Hannah Klim is the first kinesiology (exercise science) student from the TWU School of Health Promotion and Kinesiology to be accepted into the rigorous cardiovascular perfusion program at Baylor Scott & White’s The Heart Hospitals Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) in Plano. 

TWU alum gets front-row seat to Olympics as volunteer

A Texas Woman’s alumna is getting a peek behind the curtains at the Paris Olympics and the Paralympic Games this summer. Vanessa Fiaud, PhD is serving as an official volunteer for the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
