Step into the world of fashion design and learn the foundations of patternmaking in an exciting, hands-on workshop at Texas Woman’s University. From July 13th–15th, 2026, adult learners and creative enthusiasts are invited to join us on the beautiful TWU Denton campus for an immersive experience in our state-of-the-art design laboratories guided by our knowledgeable and supportive fashion faculty.
Whether you’re an aspiring designer, a sewing enthusiast ready to expand your skills, or simply curious about how garments are created, this beginner-friendly workshop will introduce you to the essential techniques that form the backbone of professional patternmaking.
What you’ll learn
During this three-day workshop, participants will gain practical skills used in fashion design studios and pattern rooms.
Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, you will:
- Create a basic bodice sloper, the foundational pattern used to build countless garment designs
- Learn basic fitting techniques that help garments fit the body correctly
- Understand how patternmakers translate body measurements into patterns
- Explore how these techniques apply to everyday pattern adjustments and garment construction
